Alexander P. Moya, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon, is the Director of Geisinger's Center for Aesthetics and Cosmetic Surgery and Geisinger’s Weight Loss Body Contouring program.
Dr. Moya received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency training in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Greater Miami. Dr. Moya also completed a fellowship in plastic surgery from the University of Utah.
Dr. Moya’s surgical practice is solely dedicated to the cosmetic patient, specializing in facial rejuvenation, and all aspects of aesthetic surgery, which includes face, breast, body and weight loss body contouring.
Dr. Moya’s surgical practice includes facelifts, neck lifts, brow lifts and eyelid lifts. He utilizes ultrasonic (Harmonic®) technology, as opposed to conventional electrocautery, for the majority of these procedures since the energy source provides a gentler and less disruptive effect on tissues. In Dr. Moya’s experience, minimizing collateral tissue damage with (Harmonic®) technology lessens postoperative pain, drainage, and swelling which results in a faster recovery. Dr., Moya has a special interest and many years of surgical expertise in body contouring, specifically breast augmentation, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift, arm lifts and VASER® Lipo, an advanced alternative to surgical liposuction.
Dr. Moya has developed an innovative surgical technique for trunk contouring for weight loss patients, known as corset trunkplasty. The procedure removes redundant abdominal and waistline skin which results in an hourglass figure in women or a tapered torso in men. The advanced technology used provides improved surgical outcomes. Dr. Moya travels nationally to present the details of this procedure to other plastic surgeons, and is a distinguished speaker for the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Moya instructs other plastic surgeons on Advancements in Body Contouring with the use of Harmonic Technology.
In addition to his practice experience, Dr. Moya is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a distinguished member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a select group of plastic surgeons who have attained high levels of achievement in cosmetic surgery training, education and experience.
